Odisha girls won one gold and one silver medals to emerge overall third in the 36th Junior National Rowing Championship, which concluded at Upper Ganges Canal in Roorkee (Uttarakhand) today. According to Odisha coach Jose Jacob, Pricila Baxla and Kamla Lakra grabbed the yellow metal in junior women coxless pair with a time of 4:35.77 secs.
The duo along with Sumitra Mallick and Jharana Hasti claimed the silver in junior women coxless four, clocking 4:06.69 secs. Thanks to the impressive performance of the women competitors, Odisha claimed the winner trophy in women category.
However, Odisha disappointed in the male category as none of the rowers could win a medal. All the rowers of the Odisha team belonged to SAI Watersports Centre, Jagatpur.
